FUNDRAISING DINNER

On November 5, 2008, the IBD Support Foundation held its Second Annual Evening of Inspiration, an annual fundraising dinner at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.  The keynote speaker for the evening was Dr. David T. Rubin, Co-Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at the University of Chicago who spoke on IBD and Colorectal Cancer risk.  The evening was an enormous success and an important event to help build awareness and support for IBD patients and their families.

From the medical community, we had in attendance among others Ed Feldman, MD, Gil Melmed, MD, Eric Vasiliauskas, MD, Dermot McGovern, MD, IIysa Diamond, MD and Phil Fleshner, MD, from Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles.  Also present were David Ziring, MD and Marvin Ament, MD, from UCLA, Jim Stein, MD, from Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, and Mark Silverberg, MD, PhD, from Mount Sinai in Toronto, Canada.  It is very exciting to know that so many IBD physicians recognize the importance of comprehensive psychosocial care for their patients, and IBDSF’s role in providing those services.
